Ioannina can be reached by road and air. The regular service of intercity buses, the direct air link of the city with Athens and the new, modern motorway Egnatia are contributing to the easy access to the area.

Ideal destination for the city's visitors is the small and picturesque island of Pamvotis Lake, with its beautiful traditional settlement and monasteries, accessed by boat. Trips to and from the Island are daily, every half hour during the summer and every hour in winter.
